One of my first jobs was at the Austrian Foreign Ministry almost a decade ago. In that capacity I also organised a retreat where I met Mr Ban Ki Moon, back then Secretary General of the United Nations. This week I got to meet him again at the Security Conference in Munich.
One of the biggest learnings I had when I first met him, was as banal as that: everyone is approachable. No matter the position or age or fame, if we're just being authentic and open, there really isn't anyone we can't talk to. And quite often it is the case that the more high ranking they are the more normal and friendly they tend to be.
I'm taking this learning with me in my constant curiosity to meet people, not only positions.
