How to turn fear into possibility

In a world where fear so easily drowns out curiosity, it’s always refreshing to collaborate with people who choose opportunity instead. In the field of AI, there’s plenty to be uncertain - even scared - about. Yet, as so often, the true opportunity lies in the synthesis between our human core and the possibilities technology offers.

For the past four years, I’ve had the privilege of leading through Infosys EMEA Confluence, and every year reminds me why I value this collaboration: learning about state-of-the-art technology while reflecting on its impact on who we are - and who we’re becoming. (And yes, the mind-blowing locations across Europe don’t hurt! 😄)

This year’s conference in Monte Carlo, Monaco was memorable - not just for the sunrise view, but for those moments reminding us how to turn fear into possibility.

♟️ Sharing the stage with Garry Kasparov, the greatest chess player in history, who once faced IBM’s Deep Blue supercomputer - the first significant human-machine encounter. After losing to the computer in 1997, he didn’t retreat from AI, instead, he became fascinated by it. His belief stuck: machines may beat us in knowing the odds, but we will stay the ones to know what matters.

🎾 A candid conversation with tennis legend Andy Murray, who spoke about life after retiring from the court. For two decades, tennis defined who he was - and he feared who he’d be without it. Yet now, having only been back on court twice, he’s found joy in curiosity: exploring completely new things and applying his discipline to raising four kids (apparently tougher than a five-set Wimbledon final).

Both conversations reminded me: when we meet fear with curiosity, we rediscover our courage to grow.
